Cheryl Chado is the Managing Attorney of Ayuda’s Domestic Violence and Family law program, where she supervises a team of attorneys representing clients in matters related to family law, protection orders, and crime victims’ rights legal services in D.C. and Maryland. She was previously employed as a staff attorney at Maryland Legal Aid, where she represented clients in custody, divorce, domestic violence and other civil legal matters before the Circuit Court and Maryland Court of Special Appeals.

 

During her time at Maryland Legal Aid, Cheryl facilitated a partnership with the Prince George’s County Family Justice Center (FJC). She worked collaboratively with other organizations and government agencies co-located within the FJC, screened referrals and conducted intakes for legal representation. Cheryl continues to support the FJC’s mission by serving on the board of directors of the Prince George’s County Family Justice Center Foundation.

Prior to her employment at Maryland Legal Aid, Cheryl was a judicial law clerk at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, where she supported magistrate judges handling diverse calendars within the Family Court.

Cheryl received her J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law, and her bachelors degree in psychology from Boston University. She is admitted to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
